We talk to HKfifty about his new ep and what it is all about.
What inspired you to make the EP?
I first knew I wanted to make an EP like this the morning after I hung out with a few friends. I woke up with a bad hangover but for the first time in a while I felt good emotionally and that made it worth it. My song "One Night" talks about that night. A lot has happened the past few months that has been hard to deal with. But recently I've been learning to overcome these negative feelings, and find happiness in the good moments. I've been leaving old ways behind, trying new things, and talking to new people. And this EP is basically about those experiences.
What inspired the title?
I decided on the name "You'll Be Okay" after writing the lyrics for "okay". After I wrote that song, I realized that this whole EP was basically about learning to be okay. So the name became a reminder to myself that I'll be okay, and a reminder to my listeners that they'll be okay too.
What was the hardest challenge making the EP?
This was actually the easiest EP I've ever put together. I wrote the lyrics to 3 of the songs all in one night, and recorded the vocals for them the next morning. It's been one of my most effortless projects because I had so much inspiration. New people, new experiences, and new feelings have definitely inspired this EP which is why I knew exactly what topics I wanted to talk about.
